Elisabeth Bardon. French ( b.1892 - d.1984 ). Ocean Gypsy Oil on Panel. Signed lower left. Image size 18.1 inches x 15 inches ( 46cm x 38cm ). Frame size 23.8 inches x 20.9 inches ( 60.5cm x 53cm ). Available for sale; this original oil painting is by the French female artist Elisabeth Bardon and dates from the 1930s. The painting is presented and supplied in a sympathetic contemporary frame (which is shown in these photographs) and is float mounted showing the panel in its entirety. The panel and the painted surface have benefitted from cleaning, restoration and conservation, which was performed on our instruction, supervision and approval. This vintage painting is now in very good condition. It wants for nothing and is supplied ready to hang and display. The painting is signed lower left. Elisabeth Bardon, nee Lemaire, was born on 3 July 1892 in Sainte-Menehould, in the Marne region of France. She became a successful artist, illustrator and engraver. Her speciality was landscapes, and in particular seascapes. Her work was exhibited in various exhibitions in Paris from around 1927, at the École Française and the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, where she appeared until 1934, also at the Galerie Georges Petit. In 1931 and 1932 she sent some decorative engraved wooden panels to the Salon des Indépendants. She provided the original illustrations for the 1948 Georges Duhamel book Le Bestiare et Herbier. Bardon died in Saint-Germain - la Ville on March 23 1984, aged 91, and is buried in the city of Châlons-en-Champagne, back in the region of her birth. Some of her work is preserved in the Carvavalet Museum in Paris. © Big Sky Fine Art This original oil on panel painting depicts a large ocean-going yacht sailing away from the viewer, across a lively sea. There are several small figures at the rear of the vessel, giving us a sense of perspective. The huge white sails of the yacht are billowing in the wind. This painting oozes with the freshness of the salt spray, the sheer exhilaration of speed and grace of the vessel as she speeds across the open seas. The way in which the painting is presented in a floating mount adds to the sense of freedom and movement, making this an extremely attractive piece.

Available for sale; this original oil painting is by Henry Robinson Hall and dates from the last decade of the 19th century. The painting is presented and supplied in its original frame (shown in these photographs) which has had some small areas of the moulding on the edges repaired to restore its decorative appearance. The slip has been replaced with a contemporary choice that is sympathetic to the frame and the painting’s aesthetic. The painted surfaces have benefitted from cleaning and conservation, which was performed on our instruction, supervision and approval. This antique painting is now in very good condition, commensurate with its age. It wants for nothing and is supplied ready to hang and display. The painting is signed lower left. The painting is also signed and titled on the reverse. Previously with Ciceri and Co, 57 Frederick Street, Edinburgh. (The company commenced trading in Frederick Street in 1875). Henry Robinson Hall was a Victorian and Edwardian artist who was particularly noted for his works on Highland cattle. He painted in both oils and watercolors. He was born in York to Eliza Robinson in 1859 and registered as Henry Robinson. His mother subsequently married John Storey Hall in 1867, and so his surname was changed accordingly. Hall lived for a while in Newcastle upon Tyne where he became involved in the artistic community. He later moved to Fylde in Lancashire and married. He later lived in Barrow in Furness and then Coniston in Cumbria, where he had a studio and also ran an artists’ supplies shop and café. He died in Coniston on 31st May 1927 and is buried in the churchyard of St. Andrews church there. Hall exhibited his works from 1895-1903 at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of Artists and the Royal Scottish Academy. Today his works are held in the National Collection, the Atkinson Art Gallery, the Oldham Gallery, the Rossendale Museum and the Lakeland Arts Trust. He was a fellow of the North British Academy of Arts. © Big Sky Fine Art This original oil on canvas painting by Henry Robinson Hall depicts a herd of Highland Cattle ascending the slopes of Glen Menteith, in Scotland. The Glen of Menteith leads to the Lake of Menteith, also known as Loch Inchmahome, located on the Carse of Stirling. In the background we see the majestic mountain range, illuminated by the sky in shades of pink and purple, the colors bouncing back from the clouds. In the mid-ground there are smaller, rounded hills with trees, and a stone bridge spanning a gushing stream.
